LINCOLN S. T. ASHIDA was appointed Corporation Counsel for the County of Hawaii in December of 2000. He graduated from Hilo High School in 1980, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in 1984, and his Juris Doctorate from Creighton University School of Law in 1987.
Mr. Ashida is a former deputy prosecuting attorney for the County of Hawaii, who successfully prosecuted many high-profile cases. He is licensed to practice law in Hawaii and is also admitted to appear before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii. Mr. Ashida is a former president of the Hawaii County Bar Association and is a current member of the Hawaii State Bar Association and the Hawaii County Bar Association.
He is currently involved with the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce, the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hawaii, the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, the Kalanianaole School Foundation, the Kamehameha Schools Parent-Teacher Ohana, the Boy Scouts of America, and Volunteer Legal Service Hawaii. Mr. Ashida also contributes his time in judging high school mock trial and other competitions and speaking at various community forums.
